Back to the book: SharePoint Roadmap for Collaboration
The SharePoint Roadmap Workshop is an intensive two-day in-house working session to help organizations create their SharePoint Roadmap for collaboration.
Workshop Format
Here’s the basic outline of the workshop:
- An initial discussion of your collaboration strategy and previous history with collaboration approaches and technology - SharePoint or otherwise. This sets the scene for our time together.
- A series of presentations, delivered by me, on each of the topics in SharePoint Roadmap, along with the most up-to-date case studies.
- Discussion and debate about the various ideas in each section.
- Individual and group exercises to apply the ideas that resonate to your firm, and work out how to implement them.
There is flexibility in the workshop too. For some of my clients, the standard workshop--as above--is all they want. For others, they want something special. For example, they might want to have me lead a focus group with one or two of the business teams during the course of the two-day workshop. This gives them an opportunity to watch how I engage with the business--thus learning from me how to do it themselves--and it can also serve as a kick-start to uncovering key areas for investment and focus with business teams. Many of my clients have found that having an external person involved in this way gives credibility and visibility to efforts around SharePoint that they can’t get by themselves.
Feedback from Workshop Attendees
"It was really helpful to see a presentation which emphasised the business requirements and goals which underpin the use of SharePoint, and to have frank and open discussions on these with fellow attendees."
Jim Linden, British Library
"A candid, balanced and clear presentation of the evolution, strengths and weaknesses of SharePoint--mainly as a collaboration platform--formed the basis of this practical full day Masterclass. Michael gauged the level and current challenges of the respective participants, enabling him to provide many contextual and relevant examples. Conclusions were well presented and there were numerous tangible take-away points. It worked well having more than one participant from some companies as it really brought out some of the many internal SharePoint myths and misunderstandings among colleagues and allowed them to leave with a clearer, shared understanding of the platform."
Lau H Andreasen, J. Boye Ltd (UK)
